Tintal – Benares Tukra 6 Overview
This style of tukra is most likely originally from Dilli. But it is played everywhere and, like so many compositions, its origin is difficult to know for sure.
Chhotelal Misra privately called it a Dilli tukra, but he also included it in his book of traditional Benares material (“Tal Prasoon/Playing Techniques”) and did not mention that it was a Dilli tukra. By now, perhaps it should be called “common”.
Here it is played Benares style and so I am including it as Benares tukra. But it can also be played with Dilli fingering, or with purab fingering with all dhas on the chanti, instead of alternating between chanti and low as Rajneesh does.
